Review CHOSEN FOODS 100% Pure Avocado Oil by Eliza

Avocado oil

LET’S LOOK AT WHAT THIS SUPER OIL CAN DO FOR YOU!

I’m sure you have heard of olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil. They are all oils that are good for you and are better choices that seed oils like canola oil.

According to Wikipedia studies have found that avocado oil may help prevent the development of such diseases as diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglyceride levels, and obesity. (1)

In France they even went as far to give prescription status to Avocado oil because of its proven ability to help with the aches and pains of arthritis! (2)

In my opinion avocado oil is one of my favorite oils to stock in my cupboard. I KEEP IT BESIDE my Coconut and Grapeseed oils. I love the flavor on both cooked and uncooked foods.

CHOSEN FOODS 100% Pure Avocado Oil is one of the best oils you can use for cooking. It is my top choice for cooking any day of the week. Its low smoke point (This is the temperature that you can see the oils start to smoke when you are heating it) makes it ideal and better for you than olive or grapeseed oil.

A Few of the Benefits of Avocado Oil

Improves Arthritis Symptoms

One of the top benefits in my opinion for using Avocado oil is for Arthritis. If you would like more information on Arthritis check out my article here.

I have found it really helps me control my arthritis symptoms. Arthritis is a joint disease that causes swelling and pain in the joints. I have Arthritis in my hand, neck and tailbone.

There are several published studies indicating that avocado oil has a positive effect on the symptoms of knee and hip osteoarthritis. (3)

Improves the Health of Your Heart – Lowers Cholesterol and Blood Pressure

Avocado oil high levels of monounsaturated oleic acid make it a great choice for your heart. Oleic acid helps reduce the risk of heart disease by raising the body’s “good cholesterol” (HDL) and lowering “bad” cholesterol (LDL).

There is scientific evidence that dietary monounsaturated fatty acids have a positive effect on reducing your risk of heart disease. (4) (5)

Improves the Symptoms of Psoriasis and Skin Issues

Psoriasis is a skin condition where you get a buildup of rough, dry, dead skin patches. You often see a raised, reddish area covered with scales.

A 2001 study published in Dermatology, showed that B12 cream containing avocado oil helped people suffering from psoriasis without the side effects of pharmaceutical meds. (6)

What To Look For in a Good Avocado Oil

You want to be sure the Avocado oil is 100 % pure.

Opt for one that is organic, extra virgin, unrefined and cold-pressed.

Refined or Unrefined?

Unrefined avocado oil has a lower smoking point, so it’s better for cooking with lower temperatures or for recipes that do not require cooking, such as salad dressings.

Refined avocado oil is a great choice for cooking at higher temperatures because its smoke point is much higher – you can cook in temperatures up to about 400ºF.

Avocado oil can also be used on your hair and skin.

Avocado oil helps decrease scalp dryness.

You can use it to remove eye makeup as you can apply it directly to your skin with a cotton ball.

Avocado oil can help your dry cuticles and cracked heels.

So which oil should you buy?

I personally love the brand CHOSEN FOODS 100% Pure Avocado Oil.

It can be purchased on Amazon here

CHOSEN FOODS website quotes – “Every bottle of Chosen Foods’ award-winning Avocado Oil is made with sustainably harvested, Mexico-grown ‘cados—perfect for salads, dressings, or dips. And with a high smoke point, you can sauté, bake, or broil without worry.”

My Final Thoughts

I like that “Chosen Foods Avocado Oil” is made with 100% pure Hass avocados and there isn’t any chemicals or preservatives. It tastes great drizzled over salads, meats and vegetables. I love that it can be cooked at higher temperatures…I’m amazed that it has a smoke point of 500°F (crazy…but I very seldom cook at this high of heat, but good to know I can!),

There is no foul odor when you stir-fry, bake or broil. With this oil you don’t need to  worry about your cooking oil breaking down under higher temperatures!

I love the taste of the ‘SUPER OIL’ – CHOSEN FOODS 100% Pure Avocado Oil (it’s fresh but there is not strong odor). I also find it is wonderful for taming my curly hair and dry skin.

Once opened Avocado oil is best used within six months, however it is good for about 24 months if unopened. Always check the expiry date on the bottle. It is recommended that you store avocado oil in a cool dry place away from heat and light.

If you haven’t tried avocado oil – give the ‘SUPER OIL’ – CHOSEN FOODS 100% Pure Avocado Oil a try ….I feel it is one more option to add to your repertoire of tools to assisting you in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and may also be a valuable addition to calming your inflammation due to arthritis.

Recipe: Eliza’s Avocado Mayo

Ingredients:

  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup avocado oil

Directions:

Place the egg yolks, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and mustard in a jar and blend using an immersion blender until combined and starts to thicken – this will take about 30 seconds.

SLOWLY dribble in the avocado oil a little at a time while blending with your immersion blender.

You may have to move the blender up a down to incorporate the oil.

You will find that it will start to thicken right away.

Keep adding oil until you have used the 1 cup of oil and have reached desired thickness.

Stir with a spatula.

Enjoy or store in fridge for up to a week.
